Glimpsed: Hotel Monaco

Pamela Forchheimer is always working with color, style and texture in her job as a make-up artist. That same creativity also applies to her own style, which she describes as "simple with an edge."
"... I want people to know about me. I think how you dress gives a clue," says the 41-year-old Lutherville resident. When we "Glimpsed" Forchheimer at Hotel Monaco's grand opening party, we wanted to know more.
The look: Paisley-patterned silk jersey V-neck Nieves Lavi dress. Gray opaque hose. Gray suede peep-toe Mary Jane pumps by Pedro Garcia. Black silk OnGossamer camisole. Blue amethyst and sterling silver John Hardy necklace. Black soft leather wrap belt. Black Gucci clutch.
Where it came from: The dress and belt came from Classic Serendipity (which is now closed). Her pantyhose came from Fields of Pikesville. She found her shoes on shopbop.com. She bought the cami at Nordstrom, her necklace at Radcliffe Jewelers and the handbag at Neiman Marcus.
How she shops: "... My favorite shops are Panache, the Red Garter and Ruth Shaw. ... But also, Target has some really great designers. ... So, I might wear a pair of shoes from Target with jeans and a great top from, say, Robert Rodriguez. I will mix pieces that are more budget-friendly with something that might be over $200."
Her favorite things: "I love wearing scarves. In the wintertime, I wear a scarf every day. ... My bags are my weakness. I love oversized bags in neutral but exciting colors, like gunmetal or charcoal. My favorite bag designer is Yves Saint Laurent."
Label love: "I love [the] Poleci [brand]. I love the way their clothes drape. ... Nieves Lavi, I love. For sweaters, I like Margaret O'Leary. For shoes, I like Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs."
Trends she likes: "... One of the trends I really love is leather boots or bags with metal studs on them. ... I love the look of a biker boot with skinny jeans. ... [Another] trendy thing I'm really liking now: the layered necklace that looks like you're wearing five different necklaces at once. ... "
Her biggest fashion rule: "Try it on. ... I have found that you might see a piece and you love it -- but the rules might say you shouldn't do it. But, you can try it on and find it works. And if you think it looks good, then it works. ... "

Schneider sports a black wrap racerback Benetton shirt over a brown cotton ruffle skirt from Anthropologie. She's added a silver BCBG thong sandal with gold accents that she ordered from piperlime.gap.com, a white Toy watch and a yellow leather Kooba hobo satchel (both from Nordstrom), a vintage gold cuff bracelet that used to be her mom's, and a pair of Roberto Coin gold oval hoops from Radcliffe Jewelers.
