Where did you meet?
We were introduced through a mutual friend. We first met at a mutual friend’s Italian restaurant and had our first date there as well.
Please describe the proposal.
Wow, so he took me out on a yacht with his family and friends in Capri, Italy. We planned to see the Faraglioni, which are famous rock formations in the Mediterranean and relax on the water.
When we arrived by yacht to the Faraglioni, Gianluca asked me to join him at the bow of the boat to look at the beautiful view of the Faraglioni together. As helped me make my way over to the front of the boat, I took a look back everyone on the boat was taking pictures and filming us. When I turned back around to Gianluca, he was down on bended-knee proposing (as our song was playing in the background). It was surreal! I was shaking out of pure excitement and nervousness at the same time!
What was the first thing you did after you got engaged?
Gianluca jumped in the Mediterranean sea while I called my mother to tell her the news. Shortly after, he had another yacht full of friends meet us on the water. He popped bottles of champagne and we all continued our celebration for the rest of the day/night!
Gianluca did an amazing job in planning this trip. When we traveled to Italy, he even placed a note on the ring’s box in case TSA/airport security needed to check our luggage. The note said, “Please do not open (box) in front of my lady.” He was so clever and meticulous in his planning! I love him!
Have you picked a wedding date? Venue? Theme?
We are going to get married in India followed by a celebration in Italy. We are an international couple with family all over the world so we thought it would be fun to have a destination wedding. Our ceremony will likely be at St. George’s basilica in India. My father helped build the basilica and it was his wish for me to be married there—God willing.
What is something you and your fiancé like to do together?
We of course like to travel but we also started horseback riding together so we try to incorporate horseback riding into our vacation plans.
We are also foodies and like to try new restaurants.
Will you be taking a honeymoon? If so, where and why did you pick that destination?
We are thinking about the Maldives or Dubai.
What is a fun fact about you as a couple?
We are both bilingual. We are taking ballroom dance classes together and enjoy salsa dancing.
