Meet Radcliffe Couple: Taylor + Alex, an Enchanted Park Engagement
July 25, 2018
Where did you meet?
We met at a concert in Washington, DC while we were both in college at the University of Maryland College Park.
Please describe the proposal.
I was in New York City for work and Alex came up to meet me so we have a weekend away in the city. He was able to get us access to the Gramercy Park so we could walk around. The Gramercy Park Hotel was where my entire family and I used to stay when I was a kid before they remodeled. The park was where I bought my very first painting (I'm an artist) and my grandparents used to walk in the park when we stayed there (my grandmother is no longer with us) so Gramercy Park has a lot of sentimental meaning to me. That day, Alex and I were walking around the park talking about our future and starting a family together and the next thing you know I was taking some pictures and he got down on one knee and proposed!
What was the first thing you did after you got engaged?
We grabbed a drink at the Gramercy Park Hotel bar. I was then surprised by my best friend and her boyfriend and one of Alex's sisters who lives in the city. all went out to eat at an awesome Spanish restaurant. We stayed at the Gramercy Park Hotel that night and it was amazing!! The hotel has so much charm and brought back many wonderful memories of staying there as a child.
Have you picked a date? Venue? Theme?
Our date is September 15, 2018. We are getting married at the Pier 5 Hotel on their Waterfront Garden and the reception is at the Legg Mason Building in Harbor East. The theme is modern and industrial glam with a funky artistic twist.
What is something you and your fiancé like to do together?
We like to do yoga, take our dog to the park and finding new music to listen to. We also love Thai food and exploring different restaurants.
Will you be taking a honeymoon? If so, where and why did you pick that destination?
We are going on a honeymoon but have not decided where yet – we have been a bit indecisive!
What is a fun fact about you as a couple?
We made an impulse decision to get a dog the day after Christmas four years ago and it was the best decision we ever made. His name is Otis and he's going to be our ring bearer!
