Where did you meet?
We met in Dublin, Ohio through an online dating platform. Sam had just moved to Ohio a few months prior to work at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
Please describe the proposal.
The past three years we’ve made it a point to either participate in or watch the Eastport Yacht Club Light Parade. Emily is from and still lives in Ohio, so they had never seen anything like it! It’s one of her favorite new Christmas traditions. This year Sam’s dad had his boat in the parade, and we spent the entire weekend decorating the boat and getting ready for the parade. As the boat was parading down Ego Alley, Sam got down on one knee and popped the question.
What was the first thing you did after you got engaged?
After the parade ended, we had champagne on the boat with Sam’s family.

What is something you and your fiancé like to do together?
Given the amount of time we’ve spent long distance we really just like doing everyday things together like going to the grocery store, cooking or watching a movie. We love trying new restaurants and going out on the boat too! Oh, and Sam really loves taking Emily’s blog pictures!
Will you be taking a honeymoon? If so, where and why did you pick that destination?
Yes! We haven’t picked a destination yet, but Emily LOVES Aruba. Hawaii and a multitude of Caribbean Islands are in the running as well.
What is a fun fact about you as a couple?
We’ve had long distance stints twice in our five-and-a-half-year relationship. A few months after we started dating Sam went to LA for six months to work on the Los Angeles Country Club golf course and moved back to Maryland two years ago for a job at Caves Valley Golf Club.
